Two dogs were electrocuted to death from Pepco infrastructure
In early January, two dogs were killed in NW after a “degraded” Pepco wire electrified the street. On walks hours apart, the dogs suffered seizures before being pronounced dead on the scene. Pepco opened an investigation that same day.
From Pepco’s statement, the company pointed to the faulty cable alongside the melting snow and de-icing salt that caused the voltage. The company states it has done a thorough sweep of the area for stray voltage and will continue to “proactively review and enhance” its procedures.
No fines or legal action have been filed against Pepco.
